I have been hearing alot on this board about Nighthawk. I also understand that it is a start up company by ex-Wilson Employees. Does anyone know if this company was made out of any tumoil or issues over at Wilson? From what I see the Night Hawk 1911s have a very close model to model pattern of the Wilson's. What are the part differences or are they pulling parts from similar sources. I am getting ready to "pull the trigger" on a new Tactical Elite. I am not after a pissing contest just want to know a little more background on the two companies before I make a decision. |

I commented on the Wilson TE and a little bit about Nighthawk in an earlier post www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=4&t=18026 |
I think it goes without saying that when a group of people break off from a company and start their own, , they aren't happy about something. It wouldn't be right for me to say what I know about why they left as I've only heard one side. According to Nighthawk, they aren't using any Wilson parts. I'm not sure where they are getting their barrels from, and I believe they use various other parts such as from Les Baer and EB. The important point I was trying to make which was in the other thread was that I believe the smith(s) who patented the TE barrel are now at Nighthawk and the Nighthawk equivelant of the Wilson TE has been improved upon. This is probably the most key factor since you are considering buying a TE. Call Nighthawk! |
