Does any one here have any of these new wilson mags?  What are your impressions of them?  Anyone besides me thinking of picking some up?

I have been using CMC power mags, but have been thinking of giving these a try.  All I know about them is that it seems the Wilson Combat marketing department has been working overtime.  I have seen their ads all over the place.  They make them sound like the coolest thing since sliced bread.

Riding in my Kimber DW as I type ... I'm happy with them.

Not having any problems with the 47D's, I wonder if it would be worth my time & $$ to move to these new mags.

I'm not sure they're anything more spectacular than your current mags by them....I have 5 other 1911 Kimber mags that I have handy, and they aren't as easy to use, handle, manipulate, etc....

Pricey, yes.  Quality comes at a cost, I guess.

I think their big claim is that these new mags were designed from the ground up to be 8 rounders.  I just wonder what is so different about them.

I have four and they are the slickest (best) 1911 mags I have used. I intend to get more.

I don't know about "so different" but most "experts" (I do not claim to be one!) feel that the compromises made to put eight rounds in a mag designed to hold seven tend to lessen reliability.
YMMV

One opinion:

Using concave followers with short legs has caused reliability problems. Doing so in order to attempt to crush more cartridges into a standard length mag is foolish and causes reliability problems. Standard length single stack 1911 mag tubes should only be loaded with 7 rounds. When the mag is fully loaded you still should have 1/4" to 1/2" of compression on the top cartridge in the mag. (This means short loading 8 round mags to 7rounds max.) This gives the cartridge column room to compress when the mag is loaded in the pistol with the slide in the forward position, and it helps assure the mag gets fully locked into position without having to beat the mag into place. If you need more round capacity, use a longer mag tube, but maintain the recommended follower and appropriate spring.

I've got a dozen 47Ds but I got a couple of the new Wilson mags when they came out
to try.

I think they're great but I don't see any pressing need to replace all my old Wilson mags.  I think as long as I keep the old 47Ds clean and track when I replace the springs I think I'm fine with staying with them.

If I was starting from scratch I'd definitely buy the new ETM mags but I'm fine with my old Wilsons.

I've been considering picking up a few. They're not that much more expensive compared to the 47D's, and I need to get more 1911 mags anyway.

The new ETM mag bodies are a little longer. The entire mag is about the same length as a 47D, but the 47D has the fat base plate. The new ETM mags have a base plate, but they are not as fat at the bottom.

I myself dont have any of them but no one I have sold one to has had any issues. Probably sold about 40 or 50 mags since they've come out.

I'm one of those folks. Bought 5 of them before the Magpul Advanced Carbine Course. They passed the test with flying colors. They load well, function well, and stood up to all the being dropped on the ground and tossed around that the course entailed. I'm happy with them.

Ran Two of the new ETM and 3 47D's at a two day pistol course they all worked well.
