I've got one in stainless just because my original standard catch was rounded...
It works, and i like that it's "thin" and doesn't stick out TOO much...
Of course i didn't have too much trouble with the standard catch, i have big hands...

Can't use them. My grip will cause the slide to lock back with ammo still in the magazine.

I've had one on the Govt for about 20 years now. I replaced the stock release when I used this pistol to shoot IPSC limited back in the 90's. No complaints.....

Besides potentially hitting the grip are there dynamic concerns with the extended slide lock? Potential issue with not locking because of the added weight of the longer tang of the slide (or is this a myth)?  Any potential issues on a CCW gun?

I had one in about 1992.  Mine would lock back on a loaded mag occasionally.  I removed a bit of metal and didn't have the problem again.  Mine never hit the grips.  My experience has been extended levers/buttons can interfere with some holsters (ccw concern) and I have read a bunch about not using them in a defensive situation because they might a hinderance in a stressful situation.  YMMV.

Don't use them myself. Have found most folks find that they create more problems than they're worth.

I think in one of Bill Wilson's books, he says it's the dumbest thing you can install on a 1911,  but so many people ask for them that he sells them

try using your left thumb to release the slide
