I just got this in the mail for my FEG, the recoil spring is VERY hard to get on and once I had it in I could not retract the slide to install the slide lock, it is noticeably longer than the spring that came in the gun (used) is this normal?

I ordered the kit with the 17lb spring , could Wolff have sent me the 18.5? The spring had a bend in it when I was able to get the rod locked in, I'm thinking this is not normal.

Any help would be appreciated

I see else where you got it to work, do yourself a favor and buy the original Brown spring set.

The Wolff recoil spring would have to be cut if you plan on using it. Their mainspring is also way too long. I will second LastRites' advice: buy Browning springs.

Midway is showing out of stock no back order on the browning spring, yes I got it in and it's working fine now. Just need to shoot it, will be ordering a browning spring next.

I bought the same kit for my FEG and I wasn't strong enough to get it in.  Way too long.

I threw it away and I'm still using the old one for now.

So yeah, others have had this problem with Wolff springs

I ordered two Browning recoil springs from Midway back in February when they were still accepting backorders. Still have not arrived yet.

Update to anyone interested, I was able to ease the Wolff spring in, at the advice of a fellow on another site, let the gun sit overnight with the slide locked back, took it out on Friday and shot it, it had a bunch of fail to extracts but it shot great when it extracted, I thought I didn't need to put the new extractor spring I. But was wrong, I cleaned the gun when I got home then put the Wolff extractor spring in.

I can barely budge the extractor now without damaging my thumb nail, I'll be taking it out Wednesday or Thursday to check extraction. I sent an email and pic to Wolff explaining my problem, the next morning I received an email informing me they would be mailing a new spring out the following morning and an apology that the spring didn't fit.

The day after that the general manager Dave Kobensky called my home and left me his number to call him back to discuss the spring, he also emailed me, due to the fact I solved the issue I emailed Dave back informing him it was an operator error and all was good with the spring .

I was surprised to hear from the a General Manager period let alone 2 days later and by phone. Some people may have issues with wollf springs in their hi powers but at least you can say they will address the issue and stand behind their product.

I didn't recieve that new spring yet so I'm thinking  Dave put the kabosh on that, was looking for a freebie but I don't like looking gift horses in they moufs either
