Got a new set of grips from evilbay.  The checkering isn't perfect, but the wood has nice grain and sure looks nice against the black polycoat.

What is the thickness of them compared to factory grips?

Quite a bit thinner.  On par with aluminum grips, I would say.

Who did the checkering? Industries for the Blind?

I once bought a set of wood grips under the mistaken impression they looked good. Was a generic Tiwanese-make set of checkered orange-red wood. Except for one of the 'checks' being chipped off, they were great. Very grippy and beautiful wood. I just don't like wood on a half-worn matte black gun.

I had a set of those grips a few years ago.  My problem was after a few hundred rounds the sharp corner of the exposed frame under the safety cut up my hand.  David

I keep meaning to try one of those Thai sets of CZ grips... I keep end up buying VZ grips instead. .

I have yet to get anything but a well made and seriously grippy grip.
