I bought an extended slide release from GlockWorld.com and was disappointed to find that it didn't fit.
I have a Gen 3 Glock 17.  The side release that I removed from the gun looks like part #3797 pictured at the bottom of this post.  The part that I ordered was 3796 - which has a little "spur" near the pin hole.  This is the part that is supposed to "Fits All 2-Pin Models EXCEPT 19/33/35"
So what's the story - do I have the right part and I'm just mechanically challenged?  Or do I need to swap out for part number 3797?

Part 3796

I think all 3rd GEN glocks are 3 pin... send it back and get the right one.

How many pins are in your 17 ?

if the part you removed looks like 3797 then you have a 3 pin (2 pins above the trigger)

the 2 pin GLOCKs have just the 1 pin above the trigger

If you can find somebody to grind off with a dremel or file off the shark fin that is on the one you have, you can touch it up with cold blue and use it.  I have done this twice for two different people that have bought the wrong one like you did.  The shark fin is the only difference and the removal of it will work and you want have any problems.  Just be careful an only remove the extra fin.  I am a Glock Armorer and although I am sure that Glock would not approve of this modification, it will work.

Just offering a solution.

stop you have is for the old school guns  IIRC something like pre "EU" prefix guns.  Time for the correct (modern) stop.

As others have stated, there's your problem. Did they even offer 2-pin 3rd Gen guns here?

They are the same part other than the tab.  Just file the tab off with a good metal file.  It will come off easy and if you take your time it will be neat.  There will be no issues with heat making the metal weaker.  Just a tiny area of metal will be exposed and a dab of paint will cover it and prevent rust virtually indefinately.
