XD 40 mags w/ 9mm in the subcompact (Page 1 of 2)

Anyone tried 9mm rounds in the subcompact 40 magazines??? I know for a fact that you can put 15 9mm rounds into a 40 magazine in the full size version, but I'm curious about in the sub? I have sent Springfield and email and they told me they were not mfg any hi-cap mags for the 9mm subcompact at this time. Thanks in advance!!

In the full sized mags you can fit 15 9mm in the 10rnd 40/357 mags 17 9mm in the 12rnd 40/357 mags 13 9mm in the 9rnd 40 sub mag here is picture I did that lets people see how to properly adjust the mags to get them to woork if they need it. By the way only about 2 out of every 100 mags really need any adjusting

Great info!!!! Thanks very much!!!!!!!!! Edited to add, just went out and bought a XD40 subcompact mag today. Brought it home and filled her up, 13 rounds with no problem. They were riding high, but with a few taps on the lips with my rubber mallet, the round went right into place, and seemed to work well. 1st chance I get to take to the range I will report back. Thanks again!! |

I just picked up a copy of Shooting Times and on the back is a picture of the new Springfield XD-Xtension. It is a standard full size magazine with the XD-Xtension sleeve that "effectively extends the grip and fills your hand like a full size frame." The sleeve looks identical to the grip, and means 17 rounds of 9mm in the full size .40 mag, but still with the compact slide. That is if you can just by the sleeve. Springfield is giving the extra magazine w/ the sleeve away with any new XD purchase. Interesting!! |

Has anyone contacted Springfield to see if the "high cap mag with sleeve" is available for purchase, without purchasing another XD Compact? I would like to have a couple. |

How much is the new grip extention going to cost? I have been thinking about getting a sub-compact xd9 for awhile now. Can't decide if I want the compact or a 4''. Or in 9mm or .40. Just read the last post. The compacts are shipping with the sleeve and an extra mag now? |

I have not contacted Springfield about cost/availability. The thing (sleeve) cant be much, it is simple piece of slip on plastic. Then, of course, you will have the cost of the full zize mag. I did buy and "adjust" some .40 mags for my 9mm, and they work perfectly. I put the Pierce extension on mine, no addtional cap, just the spot for the finger. Paid $29.95 for the mag at Gander Mtn. |

thats what i was gonna post. i bought 2 9mm subcompact. for 31 bucks(each). the good part is that they do carry 16 rounds. my thread |

Probably depends on state law. 'People' were doing it during the AWB, figuring it was a loophole. Not that I would know anyone who did that. Springfield also was selling modified Beretta 92 mags during that time as XD 'High-caps'. |

Okay, I'm a bit confused. It's Friday, I'm at work, and I can't wait to get the hell out of here so my mind is on that.
I've got the full size .40 cal XDM. I really want to get the shorter frame version and might try a possible trade this weekend at the local gun show. Problem is, I've bought over a dozen mags for the thing. Will they work in the shorter framed XDM? If not, I'll just keep the thing. Thanks team. |
