My dad is having cycling issues with his XD40, and I'm guessing it needs a new recoil spring.
I looked up (what I thought was the right spring) on Brownells only to have him send me a picture of the replacement (what looks like a 1911 length spring) next to his captured guiderod assembly. What's the part he ordered? And what's involved in changing the XD40's recoil spring? I've seen aftermarket 1911 rods for tuning, but for him it should stay stock. |

The aftermarket recoil spring I got for my XD40 service beater looks nothing like the OEM RSA, but it has functioned just fine for several years now. And yes, its just a guide rod with a regular old single recoil spring. I want to say I got it from Wolff, but I'm not 100% certain. |

I have one of these in my XD-40. It works pretty well for taming the 40 cal.
