The past two times I took my XD45 shooting there has been a problem with the first round where the firing pin makes contact, but fails to fire the round when examining the brass the first round doesn't have as near as deep as depression from the firing pin as the 2nd one does.  After that first round or two it'll shoot all day. feeding winchester and federal for the most part.  Please let me know what you think.

Sounds like a light primer strike on the first rd. How much oil are you using on it? Don't use any oil on the breechface as this can & does contaminate the ammo & it may congeal in the firing pin hole.

If this isn't the issue, I'm not sure what it might be as the following rds all fire.

Try cleaning the slide striker with solvent , then dry it out and use oil sparingly only where the manual says to. sounds like you have some crud in there.
