A friend of mine is looking at getting an XD-9, and found one that he likes.  He gave me, his gunnut friend, a call asking about the price and if I thought it was a good deal or not.  From what he told me about the gun, I thought this was excessive, but I don't know much about XD's, and don't own one myself.

The one he was looking at was a new XD-9, that came with two magazines, a two magazine carrier, night sights, and holster.  The dealer wanted to charge him $650, which would include a $25 charge for the NICS check.  He lives in Las Vegas.

I seem to recall seeing XD's around here for closer to $450-500, but I'm not sure if they were new or used.  Anyway, I thought I'd ask you all what a reasonable price is for this gun.

Thanks,

$650 is excessive. $450-$500, maybe $550 because of the sights.

I paid $350 for mine with everything listed above minus night sites.  Sounds like a joke to me.

I bought mine for a "higher then normal price for the area", from a dealer at a gun show last month for $499 NIB. The only reason I paid more then normal was that he was the only dealer there that had the XD-9. There were plenty of XD-40s and XD-45 at the show going from anywhere from $425-$485, but I wanted the XD-9.

$650 is way too high in my opinion.

I just paid $628 at a local store for an XD9 with Trijicons brand new. In my opinion, the price isn't all that bad. ordnanceoutsellers.com sells them for $464 + $70 (night sights) all day long and when you figure in shipping, 3% CC, transfer, etc it works out to being the same price I would have paid locally.

What's better, I'm actually keeping a local store in business...

Whoa, that seems really high..

Local dealer here has them advertised for $430, minus night sights.
And he has to pay for the NICS check?  That's kinda funny in my opinion.  I didn't know the NICS cost the dealer anything?
