Any thoughts on this pistol There is always a good deal going on with the essential package. The only negative I read about this gun is the higher bore axis and I haven't heard of any reliability issues, what are yalls thoughts? Oh I think the new mod 2 grip zone is a little cheesy are if be looking at buying it.

The original XD's are very good guns.  In my experience the triggers are as good or better than most, the ergos are good, aftermarket support for sights, holsters, etc. is good, and I happen to like the grip safety.  Personally, I think the bore axis debate is a non-issue.  If you like it and find a good deal, then go for it.

Its not a Glock, it will get you killed on the streets...

This XD-40 Tactical (Same frame as the XD-9)  has nearly 40k rounds on it.  It been a good gun but I have died three time now using it.  Twice in a dark ally and once in a mall food court.  Get a Glock, if for no other reason then you wont have to listen to all the Glock guys say, "Glock is better"

I much prefer the ergos compared to any other polymer pistol. The grip is a perfect fit for my hands and the bore height is not noticeable when firing.  I have had the full size model but now only have the XDS and really like it. There was nothing wrong with the full size model, I just wanted something more compact for carry. The grip safety is one of the biggest reasons I bought it and has never failed me. You can't go wrong with one of these.

I had an HS2000 a long time ago that went for about 10K trouble and maintenance free rounds before I sold it to a buddy.   I really liked it.

The high bore axis is bs. It's maybe 3/16" higher than the Glocks. The slide is thicker than the Glock above the barrel giving it the illusion it's much higher. I find the XD does better recoil wise, especially in .40. Like the recoil system better and the extra mass above the barrel helps too.

I agree with the above. They are good pistols and underrated in comparison to some other striker fired pistols. I have a tactical and sub-compact and have had zero issues with either through a lot of rounds...

I have one and it's been 100% I just don't like the trigger on it. Super long reset, spongy wall. I recommend it to people that want to spend less than $400

I'm quite happy with both of mine.
