I have the XD40 (service) & purchased the 9mm conversion barrel to give me caliber choices, but so far I've come up with 2 sites that offer a spring kit for the conversion barrel.
Does anyone have a distributor that offers the spring kit? EFK & Pistolgear are the only 2 I've seen, had problems with EFK in the past so I'd rather steer clear, pistol gear just has the plain old guide rod (non captive) |

Both required no fitting & are drop in, just remember to fill out the warranty card & obey the break in instructions. |

The factory recoil spring is the same in the .40 and the 9mm, but the slide is heavier in the .40 for slightly larger chamber dimensions and heavier recoil. So going to the conversion barrel may have some issues with ejection as some 9mm rounds will not be able to move the slide mass as needed. Contact PistolGear on this but with the non-captive rod you could try a 16# spring to get the slide speed that you need for slide lock. Also, check where your ejected brass is landing. It should be at least 2 feet off to your right, less than this and you start seeing problems which I think you are seeing. Having played with really light loads, I would suggest 4-6 feet away is a good operating place for ejected brass and reliable cycling, farther is not bad. |
