Hey I was thinking of sending my XD in to Springfield for a trigger job, anyone ever use them? Any suggestions on who else to use? Basically I want the stock trigger lightened and I would like to see it have a more defined braking point.

If you don't mind the long turn around time from the factory custom shop sure.. go for it.. If you have patience.... most don't. Scott Springer... Springer Precision. Google his site. Scott turns things around on Fed-Ex time. 541-480-5546. I had him send me a sear, sear springs and trigger bar for my XD45C. Made a big difference after tuning and installation. Don't recomend you do this yourself, give him a call. Have Fun...

I just installed the Springer Precision Trigger Kit into my XD9-Tac.  Break and reset points are better defined.  Trigger action is a LOT smoother.  The only thing is, I may have filed too much off  the trigger bar.  It was purposefully made with  too much metal so that it can be filed to have the sear stop moving just as it clears the firing pin. You can tell by looking through the back of the gun under the firing pin indicator between the frame and slide. You'll see the sear move the firing pin's tab in an escalator-like movement. My trigger now has a bit more over-travel than I wanted but a lot less than the stock trigger. I'm pretty damn pleased.  As for doing it yourself, it's not brain surgery.  Fitting the trigger bar does take patience - file off a bit at a time then reassemble. Repeat as necessary.

One more note: If you decide to install the trigger kit by yourself, remember what every looks like before disassembly. Take a picture if you have to .

A big +1 for Springer Precision!!!

I sent my XD45 Tactical to Scott for his "Competition" trigger job with the weight set at 4lbs. and also had the "Factory Clean-Up" done...two weeks later I got it back.

WOW! What a difference! I can't say enough about how much better it is over the standard factory trigger.

Worth every penny...

If you don't mind me asking, how many pennies did this set you back?

The Competition Trigger Job was $175 and the Factory Clean-Up was $50.

The killer is shipping...a little over $100 for round-trip shipping. This is because of the stupid law that you have to overnight express ship handguns these days. If you go to the Springer Precision website, you can get a prepaid FedEx shipping label at a discount. They'll charge your card when they ship your pistol back to you.

Yes, I know it's a little pricey, but the difference in the trigger was like night and day...

Just got putting a PRP kit in my XDM and wow, it's a huge improvement.  I tried a spring set and it lightened the pull and break, which helped, but I noticed the overtravel more and it was evident in my shooting.  I next ordered the easy fit match trigger from PRP.  After finally getting the safety lever in and trying the pull it was pretty nice, basically 1911-like (1/4" total travel from at rest to trigger break).  The bad news lots of overtravel.  So I fit the overtravel stop.  I installed as it came from the PRP and the trigger would not move at all, so I figured a decent amount needed to come off.  Was using the guide for PRP install from XDtalk.com and initially sanded my stop to halfway between how it came and the pic in the install guide.  Bad news, took way to much off and now the overtravel is about as long as the trigger pull from rest to break.  So come monday I will order a new overtravel stop from PRP and try over.  It really torques me off that I almost took the author of the guides advice and ordered an extra O.T. stop but didn't.

That is why I like Glock's. You can work on them yourself.

Thanks, The price is resonable for the work, but like you say the shipping is a bit much.

I did this route without lightening the pull. cost $40. This is the way to go if you like tinkering.  The results were great. 1/8 inch over travel super fast reset and super smooth with a clean break. Everyone that shoots it loves the trigger.
