I bought a new XDs and noticed a slight gap between the barrel and the slide, is this normal?

If you are talking about the space above the muzzle then yes.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you all. It's on the side, where the ejector port of the slide meets the barrel.

Sounds normal like on mine. A picture would be better to know exactly what you're talking about though.

I tried to get a picture but the gap is so small and on a black surface you can't really see it.

Just got a xds 9mm it has that gap also.

I think thats this pistol's version of a loaded chamber indicator.
All the other XDs have lever that pops up the top, I figured to keep this version simpler they just left a space so you can visually see if there is brass in there instead.
