The grips were made custom for me by Yost-Bonitz. I told them I preferred smooth wood grips (instead of the double diamond Micarta grips that come with the package) and they offered to make this set for me out of Kingwood. Great customer service. |

As every warrior knows, if you get into a shootout with that very fine looking Colt, it will be confiscated. Let me suggest you send it to me. I will keep it secure in my safe and happily fed regularly for you, while you carry something you will not mind losing. |
| Perfect! I was thinking of sending them a lw commander, having them bobtail it, and doing a similar package with 3dot tritiums (just what I am used to) and a 30lpi checkered frontstrap. I don't mind micarta grips. What was the finish like before you sent it in? |
This whole process was started because the front sight was lost at a recent trip to the range. It was an old plastic Millet sight set (I believe installed by Bob Chow out of CA in 1969 - I have his business information stamped on the original warranty card in the box) and I had been looking for an excuse to replace those sights for awhile. Never been a fan of plastic sights. It needed an action job and reliability job too. Other than that the finish was old, but ok. A few scratches here and there. It is now every thing I wanted in a carry piece. I will give a range report after I take it to the range on Sat. |
I wouldn't want to bother you with my troubles. I will just have to suffer through with this ordeal. |

Thanks for the comments guys. I took the Colt pistol to the range today. She performed great. (Also took the TRP, and it performed just as well). I shot a mix of FMJ and HP. 150 FMJ and about 70 HP through this Colt. I didn't have any failures while testing many magazines (Colt, Wilson, Novak). The sights were right on, it was hitting to point of aim. I really like that gold line front sight. It was very quick to pick up. Everything just feels right with this pistol. Dang I like this pistol. |
