Who makes a nice small concealable double action revolver? Not TOO tiny, but small enough to put on a small holster and use as a "snake gun" while hiking/camping. Barrel 4 inches or smaller please. I already have the P22 by Walther, so Im not really interested in another auto. And I already have a "cowboy" type single action revolver. But what I am really interested in is a small double action .22 LR, or even a .22 Magnum revolver. Thanks in advance. |

For price/quality the Ruger Sp-101 in .22LR is hard to beat. It's a 5 shot, stainless double action, with a windage-adjustable rear sight. The rubber grips are good, and there's nothing it "needs" right out of the box. The gun is an absolute TANK, and it's the only revolver around that can be field-stripped like an auto for cleaning. Plus, if you like it, you can buy another as a defense gun in .38 or .357 and in shorter barrels. www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAProdView?model=5745&return=Y |
you said 5 shot, the web site says six. anyway, it is still ghey. Any .22 revolver that is the same size as a 38 6 shot should hold 10 rounds. S & W makes a 10 round revolver. I've got one, it is nice. 10 shot this one is a little heavy, what you probably want it this: kit gun undr 12 ounces, 8 rounds. |
From my understanding, the high-capacity 22LR revolvers are not quite as accurate as the 6-shoot versions because it is harder to machine the smaller tolerances. At one time, the rage among the gunners was have a 6-shot 357, 38, and 22LR that all look the same. I think that was the rationale for the Colt Python(357Rem Mag/38Rem Spl), Diamondback(38Rem Spl), Diamondback(22LR). |
that seems odd, i would think the tolerances are the same, just more operations. If the guns are all made on the same machines or similar i'd think the cnc's would have comparable precision. I don't know how s & w's are made but i'd think they are done on cnc's. |
Yes , I have one. It is a good and light shooter. It feels like a toy, but you can put CCI Stingers in it and you would have one hell of a bite for camping or back packing pistol. The rubber grips are very good and it fits the hand well. Nine shots and the HiVis sight are nice. I got mine for about $479 plus tax. |

Go to all the pown shops in town and see if some one powned one of the old slab sided guns that brake down from lifting up the top strap under the sites. I cant remember the name of the gun but it shoots very well and hits what you ame at. It allso is a nine shot. They came with barrels from 3" to 6". I have had several of them in the past for trail guns and never had rust trouble with them. When you break it open the shells would eject out all you had to do is turn it side ways and they fell right out. Very easy to reload. I dont recall seeing them in 22 mag. Very light guns too. It wasnt Iver Johnson. They are better than that ! Damn I hate getting old ! Any one help me out with the name here !! Thanks Gator |
| Why not an old S&W Model 63 or 34? New S&Ws have those ugly, useless internal safety locks and they just look awful overall. Ruger is a politically correct gun company and I would not spend a dime supporting their mediocre products. Just my opinion, but old wheel guns are the best! |
H&R 999, maybe?? |
