My uncle has an old Colt 1902 chambered in .38 ACP.

Anyone have any idea where I might find some ammo for it? Tried a google search but came up with a few places and it was very expensive.

Thanks.

You can load your own using .38 super brass.

The original .38ACP loads were nearly identical to current .38 super loads.   Unfortunately the 1902 had a tendency to explode under the pressure of that load.   The load was down-rated.   Years later following design/mealurgy improvements, new pistols were introduced which could handle the originally designed load, which was renamed .38 super.

To be clear, don't try shooting .38 super through it.   It will chamber and fire.   The 1902 was known to explode under that load though.

Pull the bullets and reload the brass.

Yeah..I figured the easiest way was to just use 38 super brass and load to .38 ACP specs. Thanks for the confirmation of my gut feeling.

Really just looking for loaded ammo that my uncle can buy so he can shoot it some more. I don't live near him and I told him I would try and find some for him.

Remington has loaded .38 ACP within the last couple of decades.  I have a couple of boxes on my shelf of obscure ammo.  It is loaded kind of weak, even by .38 ACP standards.

My Hornady manual has some .38 ACP loads listed.

I almost bought one of the old Colts last February.  But, when I think of the .38 Super loads I have put together over the years, I decided I shouldn't own it.  I think I could keep the proper load in it, but after I am gone, who knows what would happen?

I found one box of the Remington 130 FMJ from the 80's last year. Haven't seen any since.
You might try Old West Scrounger, they sell obsolete ammo.

Please listen to this man.  I worked with a kid who trashed an 85% colt doing this because he thought they were interchangable and was to stupid to ask anyone else.  No spectacular kaboom but the gun was fucked.
