I have a newer USA made mark XIX .50 AE that has operated great with many different loads for the last 9 months. It's the best gun I have ever owned and I really enjoy shooting it. Last week I got a .44 Mag barrel and magazine. The .44 jams 2-3 times every mag. Also all the cases bulged out almost .006" about .375" from the rim on all ejected cases consistently. I called magnum research and they told me sometimes new barrels have to be fitted to the gun and that the chamber needed to be checked out. So know I have to send the gun to MR to be fitted and they want me to pay shipping to their facility, they will pay return shipping. I am going to call them again tommorow and try to get them to pay shipping both ways because shipping a firearm that weighs that much with extra barrel will cost like $90.00, that's BS. Anyone else had this experience with a barrel swap, with customer service at MR or shipping a hangun. Since I have almost $1800.00 into this gun and it's less than a year old I really think they should cover shipping both ways. Anyone want to back me up here?

I'm just kind of grasping at straws here, but have you considered the springs? It would depend on how many rounds you have fired so far, but they suggest that you change them every so often (and I have seen differing numbers on frequency). I never have changed mine, but my round count with .50 is pretty low (200-250 or so) vs. .44 (1000-ish, I have lost count). I plan to change them soon, but I don't have any issues yet, even though they are clearly not a strong as they were when new.
If you have used it enough in .50 (it would take a lot, I would think, and give you issues more with that caliber than with .44), is it possible that maybe they are worn? Just an idea. And I think their position on the shipping is BS, for what it's worth. That sucks, Magnum Research! I hope Kahr doesn't screw them over...

I got on the phone with Magnum research today and convinced them to pay the shipping both ways, they sent me a fedex label. He said the only charges I my see are a gunsmithing charge of $45-$60 to fit the .44 barrel if that is the problem. They will go through the gun and make sure that both barrels funtion properly. I am also sending them a .44 case so they can see the bulge. It makes me feel alot better that they are covering the shipping. I will post again when I recieve the gun back and let everyone know how it went with the customer service. Crossing my fingers on this one.
I only have about 150 rounds through the gun with .50AE and 35 with the new .44 barrel and the spring feel good so I don't think thats an issue, the gun is only 6 months old. |
