On 12/1 I ordered a Glock 30 w/NS from a member of this forum, for $615 shipped. The local gun shop wanted $689 w/o NS and w/o tax. He also charges $45 for the transfer. So I still saved $100. On 12/7 I checked the tracking number and see that it was delivered at 4 p.m. The next day I called the gun shop and they tell me they didn't receive anything. They told me because of the holidays, it might not make it before Christmas and that the post office probably mixed up the tracking numbers. Now it is 12/13 and they still haven't called, and the transfer was only one state away! I think the local gun shop is pissed that I ordered from somewhere else cheaper. I am going to call the post office to confirm that it was delivered. I might have to smack someone.

OMFG that fucking sucks!  I feel really bad for you and just reading your story, I'm getting pissed off at them.  I can only imagine how f'ing pissed you are.  I hope to God that some little goon didn't rip your gun off or something.  I don't know if the gun store is going to try to screw you because you didn't buy from them if they're charging a $45 transfer fee.  They're making a good amount of money on that.  I would really be worried that they delivered it to some 18-19 year old kid while he was the only one there and he just took it out to his "pimped honda civic" and tossed it in the trunk thinking 'No one's gonna miss this!'  Again, I'm sorry to hear that this happened.  I have never had the Post Office fuck up any of my mail.  I've shipped tons of stuff through USPS, UPS, and FedEx and all of their tracking numbers are always deadly accurate.  If USPS shows that tracking number being delivered, it was delivered.  They have to scan the barcode on the package with the tracking number on it when it's delivered and the only way that it could possibly show delivered if it wasn't is if the mail man stole it and marked it as delivered.  Either way, I hope that you had shipping insurance on this thing because I don't know if the odds look too hot for you with actually getting your package.  Again, sorry to hear about this.  I know how you must be feeling.  Waiting for it to actually ship is hard enough, let alone something like this.

A few days or a week and a half?  At this point it is hard to tell if they are just being assholes or if someone stole it.

EDIT: This is why I don't buy anything that needs FFL transfer through the internet...no offense.  I just know that I would end up putting up with hassel in the long run.  Even my AR's that I piece together.  I always buy the stripped lowers local.

That is exactly what the scumbag local dealers want, i hate my local shops so much i even despise going in there to pick up my transfer, because they act like i am bothering them and wasting their time, even when i hand them the money for my transfer fee.

I'm glad this thread got started, not becuase someone  is getting screwed but because I want to buy a gun for my son who lives in Georgia for Christmas and I had wild thougths about finding a FFL there to transfer it to.  I must re-evaluate I guess.  Good luck endangeredspecies

I had a similar incident happen to me . When I informed the gun shop owner I was contacting the Postal Inspector's Office and the ATF he pulled his head outta his butt and my transfer purchase appeared just like that! I believe the shop was jerking you around for buying from someone else and still saving $100.00 bucks after all was done.

While this is possibly one of the most painful sentences I have read in my life, I am sorry to hear your story.  What I was saying earlier in this thread is that while this pisses me off, I just as soon avoid this entire situation by buying locally.  It seems to be next to unavoidable so I'm not going to go through all of the hassel of getting it ordered online and transferred to a local dealer only for them to "punish" me by sitting on my gun for 2 weeks and then charge me a high enough transfer fee that not only did it take 3 weeks to get my gun, I also ended up paying the same price as I would have locally.  If I were you heath, I wouldn't have shared the fact that you saved a bunch of money by buying online.  As for the local dealer, I don't see why they're so pissy when they probably profit more of the transfer fee than they do from selling the damn gun to you.

You guys just need to find a decent dealer.  Buying online is easy as you make it.  I call my dealer out of state, order the item, my FFL calls me to say it's here, go over there to fill out paperwork and hand him $10.  Then we shoot the shit for half an hour.

I was informed by the seller of this process, and that was going to be what I would've told the local gun shop if they kept me waiting any longer. The sad thing is, with the $100 I saved buying the Glock elsewhere, I was going to spend it on ammo at the local shop. Not now.

If they received and signed for the package, and told you they didn't get it..... then they're in deep shit.  You don't mess with the mail.   I'd call a postal inspector, no reason not to dick them over hard.

+1.  Inform the post office that there is a gun store possibly disrupting the shipment and transfer of firearms.  This could also get other federal agencies involved with the investigation and bring a lot of unwanted attention to this gunstore.  It's a shame that people like this get away with completely fucking their customers.

I use a local pawn shop.  He charges $10 for the FFL and $10 for the Oregon State background check.

Sorry you're getting the run around.  Bad Karma on them if they're jerking you around.

What's a postal inspector going to do with a package sent via FedEx/UPS?
They only handle matters related to the US Mail.. Now then if you call the postal inspector and tell them you mailed a pistol that supposedly didn't arrive. I'm sure they would be really interested to hear more.

If you do suspect wrong-doing on the part of the dealer, the BATFE would be the ones to contact.
