Im a small frame guy 5'10'' 140lbs Kahr is a slimmer frame, single stack gun with lower capacity. The XD is bulkier but has higher capacity. I prefer my Kahr for the slim frame, but I would recommend trying to at least hold each gun in a store and see what you prefer. My Kahrs have been 100%. Both are good guns. |

I've had both and I'd recommend the Kahr. They're pretty nice to carry simply because they are pretty slim and very light. The trigger is a little different than most pistols out there (unless you're proficient with a DA revolver) It's pretty long, but really smooth and easy to learn.
As far as caliber, 9mm would be fine. The .40 is pretty snappy in a lightweight pistol, but not out of the question. There are alot of really devastating 9mm bullets on the market these days. |

Devastating for 9mm maybe. I don't have a Kahr but I have handled them and I agree that if you want a slim framed gun you will want the Kahr. I own a XD subcompact in 40. I am not a fan of the trigger because it is a long trigger pull. My assumption is that the Kahr is the same so I don't know if that is a reason to stay away from the XD. I personally carry a full sized 1911 and I think that it is a little easier to hide than the xd because the xd is a lot thicker. The advantage to the thickness is a LOT more ammo. |
