First 4 hours is class room stuff, all the local and federal laws and a few scenarios. The second 4 hours is a review, you shoot 20 rounds at a target and have to hit a pretty large zone, ten you go back to the class room and take a test if you pass the test you get your permit. The test is easy I got 100%.

Is your guy doing finger printing in house?

My dad is an instructor in Ohio and he does it all in one day.  For Ohio it should be 12 hours since that is what is required.  He does 8 hours in
the class room and 4 hours on the range.  Depending on the instructor it could be pretty bland or it could be fun.  In my fathers classes he uses videos
and his on the job experience as a cop to help teach his students.

I didnt get fingerprinted until i applied for my permit.
They told us to bring 200 rds but i didnt even shoot over 30 rds. We were told to load 5 rds at a time and we got to go to the line like 5 or 6 times. Once everyone could hit the plate everytime then it was over. We had 10hrs of class time and 2hrs of range time. We had a couple of uncomfortable situations with 2 old women who had never shot before. They had a hard time not pointing their pistols at others while on the line and ready to fire.

It will probably be NRA basic pistol with a few OH specific things.  It's pretty dry, and you need to become an expert on the laws yourself.

You won't get finger printed until you apply for your permit with the sheriffs office.

When I did mine they shot a few drills with practice and a "graded" part.  Since the ORC doesn't say what the shooting part is it is up the the instructor.  They told me to bring 150 rounds I shot 60.

Other people shot a lot more.  The shooting was easy for me, but there were quite a few novice shooters.  I'm no bullseye champion either.

the instructor's name is Don Pagath and he teaches a lot of classes here in Zanesville he does not do them that much because of summer but in the spring and winter he does a lot of classes.

It will vary by state, brother. Most states have a required set of topics and/or shooting that must be covered in the class for it to meet the requirements of the state.
