What is the law concerning the travel in vehicle over a state borders.  For instance traveling from MO over IL to TN?  What would the law require me to do?

I doubt that IL will let you carry. Packing.org is gone now, tha used to be a very good place to get ccw info.

If you are travelling through a state that does not recognize your state's permit, you cannot carry in that state.

Lock it up in IL or they'll lock you up.

No carry in IL.  Your firearm needs to be unloaded, encased, and in the trunk.  Stick your hand out the window and raise your middle finger when entering and leaving Illinois.

Kinda like packing.org

I just used it for a trip from VA to PA. I might have to swing around MD I don't have a trunk to put it in. How about locking it in the glove box?

From the Illinois State Police:

Non-residents must be legally eligible to possess or acquire firearms and ammunition in their state of residence. It is recommended that, in order to be in compliance with all statutes, non-residents transport all firearms:

1. Unloaded, and
2. Enclosed in a case, and
3. Not immediately accessible or broken down in a nonfunctioning state.

Look up your state CCW permit laws. see which states it reciprocates with. If any stats dont accept the permit. look up that states Firearm laws for transporting in a vehicle. I know some states will allow you to drive through but you cant stop AT ALL or your in violation.  Washington D.C. is one of them.

As always, search for Firearm laws in every state you go into for transportation guidelines so you know what you can and cant do with the firearm.   I just lock my GLOCK in its box behind the seat and keep the magazine in my pocket.  and always travel with the shotgun just because its easier to keep the rifle/shotgun in the back seat when traveling.  for some reason states think handguns are sooooo horrible.hope this helps. Should not have a problem traveling.  Good Luck, Be Safe!

When I travel though Illinois I don’t buy shit! No gas, no food, nothing! I feel sorry for the citizens of the state, but no way am I going to support a socialists state.

Oh, I lock it in the trunk till I cross the border.

federal law says you can transport any legal firearm through a state, as long as its locked up in the trunk separate from ammo.
