ok, heres the issue I am pushing 60 I have shot 1911 for over 45 years I own several, I love the 1911 but I have a problem with the grip and engaging the grip safety it is a new problem I have noticed in the last year or so I thought the gun was doing something or I was doing something differently.. I had ONE gun with an issue that we fixed right here in this forum but,, I am noticing I have the issue with nealy all my pistols now.. in really getting into it it sames the shape of my hand has changed enough with age I assume I am not getting full contact with the grip safety whiskey tango foxtrot...this blows so beyond putting inner tube around the grip, and ripping it off if I shoot somebody before the cops get there..or replacing all I mean all the grip safetys with memory bump Brown styles,,what to do suggestions??? |

Are you useing a flat main spring housing? I found that I had that problem with arched or wedge MSHs. I have one gun with the standerd springfield loaded model safety with the bump on it, IMO, it would be hard to not dis-engage it with a flat MSH.
Your comment about ripping off the tube before the cops get there.....? If you intentionally shoot someone to save your life, why would it matter? If you're accidently shooting people, then you've probably got other problems.

I DOnot want to spend the money to put edbrown memory bump safeties on a dozen handguns either the issue with tying down the grip safety, from reading Ayoob is getting in court with a modified safety can lead to the hangsmen noose..even using rubber bands has been proven to lead to jail time in a Liberal Judges court.. sad but true IIRC... thanks keep responces coming though, may be a solution out there.. |

I prefer to take a file and set the "timing" forward on them. Due to the shape of my hand and not having enough fat the Brown GS is a bitch for me to get activated. yes, but I am now having an issue with my 24 yr old Jacobson custom that has been my comp gun, and now it is doing the same damn thing has to be my hand shape has changed,,
may have to go to a revolver...
I do own a mdl 22 smith, hate carrying revolver, buldges too much, and I buldge enough already |

Get ONE ed brown memory bump for your carry pistol and just tie down the safeties on your range guns until you get around to spending the money to update them as too. |
