I have a couple questions about commander size 1911's.

first, what is the exact difference between government and commander frames? i know that the dust cover of a commander is a little shorter, and the "back wall" of the recoil spring area is 1/10 of an inch deeper.
I know that the frame rails are shorter on a commander as well, but by how much?
Does a commander frame/slide have the same recoil stroke length as a government frame/slide?

also, if someone has a commander 1911 and a government 1911, can you post some pictures of the two showing the differences?

also, has anyone installed the 4.15" recoil master from STI into a commander 1911? have any pictures?

any help/ info is appreciated

I would like to know more on this too.

Last night while looking down my Gov 1911, I was wondering what takes to make a separate top slide assembly to convert Commander.
Would it be even possible?
Would it be like Glock slide conversions?

Although that website had some good information, it didn't really have the info I was looking for. Does anyone have any other resources? Maybe some pictures?

Sorry that didn't help.

Look at the Colt section here.

At the top of the page there are some other links that could be useful....
