Can anyone point me in the direction to interpret the markings on my SIG?

Do you want to know the manufacture date of your SIG?

I just called SIGARMS customer service and they told me.

You can tell when a German SIG was proofed (which is done right after it’s assembled) by the proof marks on the bottom of the slide near the muzzle.

You’ll probably see what looks like a squashed bug, which is the Kiel proof house, a stylized eagle with an small “N”, which apparently is the type proof done, and a date code consisting of two letters which represent the last two digits of the year proofed.

Here are the codes:
A = 0
B = 1
C = 2
D = 3
E = 4
F = 5
G = 6
H = 7
J = 8
K = 9
(note that the letter “I” is omitted)

If your SIG doesn’t have proof marks, it was assembled here in the states (though possibly with some German made parts).

I wish my camera would take closeups that clear. BTW OP, letters in the serial no. are not date codes, they have to be under the front of the slide.
