has anyone had ejection problems with their P3AT due to gunk under the extractor?

my gun has been jamming about once per mag and leaving me with a slide that's caught on the next round in the mag and a halfway extracted case

I don't have any ammo to go try it just yet but I detail stripped the slide and cleaned some gunk from under the extractor

I only have 300 rounds through the gun but I didn't start jamming at all till I had about 225 rounds through it

is 300 rounds enough to gunk up the extractor to the point it can't hold a casing anymore?

I field stripped and cleaned it about every 50 rounds but I just now detail stripped the slide

I am not familiar with the Keltec but it is definately possible that gunk under the extractor could cause that jam.

If the extractor is prevented from fully engaging the extraction ring of the case, it cannot fully grip it; when the slide starts back, the casing is sort of 'limply' held by the extractor so it won't extract.

It is one good reason to get GunScrubber aerosol. Blast the goo from under the extractor.

well it wasn't that, I took it to the range today and it kept doing it

it also left me with a empty casing in the chamber after firing the last round in the mag twice today

My P40 had the same problem you describe.  I called Kel-Tec and had a new extractor, spring, and pin in less than a week...free.  I compared the old to the new, and it turns out the old one was just plain worn out.  No problems now.

ETA: less than 400 rds. before the original extractor started acting up.
