I noticed today that the extractor is loose.  In all of my previous 1911's it has fit snug.
Is this normal or should I have someone check the tension.  Also no malfunctions at all. Thanks

It can be loose and still function OK.  Depends on the gun.

Too loose = FTE

Too tight = FTF

What you don't want is "clocking", which is when it rotates about its long axis, usually caused by poor fitting of extractor to firing pin stop and/or firing pin stop to slide, which can cause FTEs.

Plenty of guns will have a loose extractor fit, and might have a slight amount of clocking.  They will continue to function fine.  I'm not disagreeing with a38337, but I am saying don't fix what ain't broke.  a38337 offers very sound advice here.

So, the tension is probably just right on your gun.  If it is clocking a little, no biggie, but if it's clocking a lot, and you ever have eratic ejection, don't automatically assume adding tension will fix things.  It might, but then again, there might be so much tension that it doesn't feed well.  To fix clocking problems, one needs an oversized firing pin stop that is fitted to your gun.

The only real point I'm trying to make is don't worry about the little things unless you have some syptoms of an unreliable weapon.  It sounds like your gun runs great.

Thank you both. I did not know weather to be conserned or not and only because it is my everyday duty gun.  I will keep an eye on it and hopefully no problems will arise.

Hobbs is correct (and I should have made this clear) - a little clocking can be OK.

Big thing is - does the pistol work 100% as is.  If not, then you have some things to start looking at.
