I have a spare factory glock black box that my glock 19 came in. It is the only glock that I own and someone wants to know if a glock 21 will fit in it. Anyone know? Are glock factory boxes all the same size? TIA. |

It depends. The early 2 or 3 generations of "tupperware" boxes there were two sizes. Later all "tupperware" was the same size no matter what frame size the pistol. The newer hinged top boxes are all the same size (I think). First generation had wings on the center post which prevented a pistol with the trigger forward being put in the box and only a center post (I guess the thought was trigger pressed and it had to be unloaded... until some clown forced it in the box loaded and NDed and sued), they also had a little section that held ammunition. Second generation boxes were much the same but without the ammunition storage. Third generation boxes no longer had the wings on the center post so a pistol could be placed in the box with the hammer forward, and a plastic "wall" that contoured the rear of the trigger guard and part of the upper grip area. I do not recall if it was this generation of "tupperware" that also was made larger to hold all frame sizes or there was a fourth generation before the hinge topped boxes. I also think there are two different hinge top boxes. One with a built in key lock and one with out any locking devices. I have at least one of each generation of the "tupperware" boxes inches. The original 1st generation measures 8 7/16 x 6 3/8. My 10mm box measures 8 5/8 x 6 3/8 inches. The box my mid-size .357 SIG came in measures 8 21/32 x 6 3/8 inches (slightly larger than my 10mm box which I have had since they were first released). So... if it measures (with the top off, from edge to edge long wise measuring across the top of the open box) at least 8 5/16 inches, it will fit a G20 or G21 models and the smaller frames. If it is an older box it may have 9 x 19 mm molded into the lid of the box on the top. If that is the case, it will be the smaller generation box. I hope this helps. |
