Ok after fully stripping and cleaning the slide and whole firing mechanism I am still getting a lot of failure to fires on Wolf ammo.  It has not happened with brass ammo but it is concerning that neither of my 4" m&p 9's can run more then two mags of without a failure.  I know some are going to blame the ammo but I will not carry a gun I cant trust with any ammo.  We split a thousand round case of wolf recently between my m&p's, G19, and XD that my buddies had and I am the only one with failures.  I love my M&P but this problem has to be fixed.  Any suggestions?

Wolf has military primers that are hard to punch. Don't worry about it.

I bought some Tula primers and had similar issues in my M&P 9MM.  No issues in my XDMs, just the M&P.  Someone suggested I replace the M&P striker spring with a Glock striker spring so I tried that.  No help, still wouldn't reliably fire Tula small pistol primers on the first strike (run them through again and they'd go off on the second strike).

No more Tula small pistol primers for me (unless I eventually decide to dump the M&Ps, which I hate to do since they fit my hand so good and I like the safeties).  Between the 2X2 feel of the Glocks and the accuracy not being up to my expectations and the M&P issues (trigger/striker issues early on, then again after a few months - not the Tula primers issues but failure to fire issues due to the mechanical internal parts/alignment) I'm beginning to look at the SIG pistols.  Gun show today.

Im the same way!   I love my M&P's but I am not confident in them anymore.   I have a lot of money in mine with mags etc.

Walked out of the gun show with nothing but primers.  However, the SIGs failed my test (no thumb safety, just a hammer drop "knob") but I looked at some very interesting CZs.  Next gun show I may walk out with either a P0 7 or P0 9.

Oh, bought CCI small pistol primers.

The European guns will run it, is there some reason a S&W shouldn't ?

No problem with mine. I wouldn't blame it on the ammo

My new Pro Series CORE 9 is at S&W after only 175 rounds. It was doing fine for the first 75, but I had 23 out of the next 100 rounds that the primers were not marked by the striker at all. The trigger would click but not strike the primer. It was intermittent, I put mag in first shot or two would fire then no fire, eject that round pull trigger fire and then it was completely random from there on. Reloaded all the rounds with no strike marks same thing random fire or fail to fire. Called Smith and they immediately had me send it back stating that they have never seen that bad of a no fire problem.

please do this test with caution and at your own risk.  remove the FPB and see if the problem disappears. reinstall the FPB and see if it reappears.  Do not run the gun without it

My Shield's back home for light strikes with multiple types of ammo.

My wife's new Shield 9 had numerous FTFs today with Monarch steel cased ammo. None with Federal brass. My father in law's Taurus 24/7 does the exact same thing.  Neither have this problem with brass. My XD will eat anything I throw in it.

Not too happy about this.

My XDMs would fire round after round of Tula primered reloads that the M&P was having problems with.  The XDMs seem to have a much stronger hit on the primer (try the pencil test, you'll see the XDM hits harder than the M&P or the Glock).

I bought a CZ P07 this weekend.  I'm very happy so far.  More accurate than the Glock.  Hammer, ambidextrous safeties, like the M&P, I can carry it cocked/locked.  Factory trigger is better than the Glock, XDM or M&P.

When I get my 9MM top end for the P07 (I bought a .40 S&W) I'm going to grab some of the Tula primered 147 grain reloads the M&P choked on and head to the range to try them out.
