I started buying fiocchi since my local range sells just that and Ive noticed both time to the range my handguns are totally filthy. The muzzles become all blackened and inside the barrels theres just chunks of carbon. Anyone else shoot this stuff?

I have used it a couple times before, not really a big fan of it.  It is like using Wolf ammo.  It has that same smell and is really dirty.  Makes for some serious cleaning.  If you are trying to find cheap ammo for plinking and don't reload CCI Blazer is usually cheap, at least in my neck of the woods.  Blazer ammo is a little dirty but nothing like Wolf or Fiocchi nor does it stink.  That is my take on it.

ok, so its not just me. It took forever to clean the barrels out. Guess I need another brand of plinking ammo since buying at the range is murder anyways.

Sounds alot like MagTech that I made the mistake of using once. Took forever to clean the gun afterwards

I have used it occassionally in my 9mm. Maybe I didn't shoot enough rounds to get the gun as dirty as y'all are alluding to. I get the Winchester Wally World 100 rnd. packs for both my 9mm and .45. Can't beat the price, not in my neck of the woods anyway.

I've shot a lot of Fiocchi, both in 9mm and 45, and never found it to be dirty ammo. Strange.

I've had far worse luck with Blazer than with anything else, including Wolf. It looked like there were clouds of dirt, not gunsmoke, but DIRT in the air around my .357, like the dirt cloud around Pigpen from "Charlie Brown."

About 1500 rounds so far in 9 and 45 and no particular problems. I haven't noticed it making any more of a mess than any other ammo after that many rounds(?)

I got a couple boxes of 38 Spcl.
Out of the first 25, one did not go bang.
It did not appear to be any dirtier than other brands in my 686. I believe I'm going back to PMC for 38 Spcl, S&B and PMC for the .357.

I have had very good luck with Fiocchi.  I used 9mm, 40 and 45.  Some is made here in the states and some is made in Italy.  I hope they are not changing something, I kinda liked this stuff.

I shot it whle in the police academy.  I got lots of malfunction drills ;-) At the time I blamed it on the Ruger I was using.  I didn't notice it to be particularly dirty, but I switched to wolf, which is filthy, so that could be the reason.  I switched to the Winchester value packs from walmart too.  Much happier with those.

So out of sheer bordom and the fact that I had the day off I decided to do a little dirty ammo test.  I bought a box of 40S&W 180gr FMJ Flatnose Fiocchi, a box of 40S&W 180gr FMJ CCI/Blazer, a box of 40S&W 180gr FMJ PMC, and a box of 40S&W 180gr FMJ Sellier&Bellot.  I then grab all my 40 cal guns and headed for the range.  I used my Fiocchi in my HK USP40, CCI/Blazer in my HK USP40C, PMC in my SW99, and S&B in my P99.  After firing all 50rds through each of the guns I then took them home and started cleaning.  I found that PMC and S&B were harder to clean than the Fiocchi and CCI/Blazer was the easiest.  That is what I found in my little slice of bordom for the day.  At least I got to the range and got some shooting time in.

I read somewhere(I can't remember at this time where) that foreign produced ammo like the Fiocchi and S&B shoots a lot more filthy than US produced ammo.

I buy Wal-Mart's 100rd Winchester Value packs and Bi-Mart's Remington UMC 250rd Mega packs.  Both are great buys.

Same here, never had a big problem with it and the price is good if you shop around. I shoot it a lot. Use it to hunt also.
