do i need anything special to uninstall/install the front sight? how is the factory front sight held in vs the mepros?

You need a special little 3/16" nut driver to install the aftermarket front sight.this special tool has a small outside diameter.

You can buy the economy version for about three bucks,at various online vendors,or maybe grind down a normal nutdriver to work.

If your current front sight is the stock plastic,just rip it off with pliers,or punch it out from the back.

You can find the front sight nut driver at Brownells.  A regular nut driver is too thick. Also be careful not to overtorque the front sight screw as it will shear off.  You will also  need a medium strength threadlocker. Meprolight reccomends loctite #609.

If you buy the XS big dot sights you get a really nice front sight tool with them.
