Fill me in on these compensated models. Specifically, I notice that the compensator does not protrude out of the slide. So, I am assuming that since the slide itself is vented for this that the barrel has the compensator cuts in it, within the slide. So am i sacrificing legit barrel length on these compensator models?

Thanks

The barrel has two ports/slots as does the slide. You're not sacrificing physical barrel length and the slots only interrupt a small amount of barrel and rifling.

You give up some velocity though, and get some muzzle blast depending on the position / proximity of the pistol to your body, a bit more noise, and a dirty front sight after a hundred or so rounds.

I had a G17C and a G22C. Some say that the porting isn't as effective on the smaller calibers but I cannot believe how fast I could shoot with the 17C, plus it was accurate as hell to boot. It seemed as though the sight literally never left the target.
