i have wanted one of these for a long time and a buddy just got one. those of you who have one, how do you like it? i was a little shocked by the recoil. what i mean is from all the things i heard i thought it was gonna be a lot more harsh than it was. so what do you guys think?

I would wait for a 20SF unless you have large hands. You can find a 21SF to compare to. Great pistol though, 16rds 10mm and I think recoil is overblown w/ the 10 and the 40. Wide varity of ammo available, not real cheap unless you reload but you know that ahead of time.

well i have a model 30, and my dad has a model 21. i don't have any issues hanging on to either of them. i have not used a sf yet though. i would like to put my hands on one just to see how it feels in comparison. i know the ammo aint cheap and it will likely only go up but, i would like to have a gun in that caliber and i have always been a glock nut. i've owned several glocks over the years and i wish i had never sold any of them.

Stories of the recoil are overblown...and I like to shoot the full blown double-tap rounds.  I even have the 29 and don't have a problem with that either.  I love my 20/29.

I find the 10mm recoil to be right there with the .45acp, IMO. IOW, no big deal.

For ammo options, i.e. cheaper, I buy GA Arms ammo. They're also an arfcom sponsor. Their "canned heat" (1K) package allows one to shoot for not much more than the .45acp costs, IMO.

got one love it, it's slowly on its way to the top to be my favorite handgun, not much can argue with 15+1 of 10mm

I like it so much I made my own G20L.  I own 40sw and also shoot 45acp and as I reload for everything, I shoot my 10mm more than all the others combined.  Hey, after buying the cases, the cost difference between a light 40sw round and a nuclear 10mm round is measured in tenths of a cent per round.

I love mine.  I was a 10mm kind of guy before I got my Glock.  I shot a friend's 21 and loved it.  I finished the mag I was shooting, put the gun down, picked up the cell and called my dealer and ordered my 20 on the spot.  It has become my carry gun for most days.

glad to see the 10mm gettin some love. it seems like everyone i mention it to around here seems to think i'm crazy. it seems the recoil on it is very close to my .45 so it's not bad at all. thanks for the input guys.

I got one I love it.

It's a bit spendy to shoot but a lot of fun.

I think it makes a good woods gun too.

Good luck

I have the G20, 29, and the 21.

The 29 was my carry gun for many years.  I just got the G20 and it has
replaced the 29.  I *love* 10mm.

Got the G21, cuz, well, ya hafta have a .45 ;)

I have 7 Glocks including a 20 which is my favorite pistol and pistol caliber. That includes the 21, 2 Kimbers (Including a Clackamas 1996 model) and a Colt orig. 1911 vintage 1918. YOU CANNOT ARGUE WITH 16 ROUNDS OF NEAR .41 MAGNUM POWER. Oh yea, USE DOUBLE TAP AMMO. Mike McNett is the GOD OF 10MM.

Now that Glock has formerly announced the release of both the G20SF and G29SF at this year's SHOT show, your waiting for a SF 10mm are almost over.

I love my G20C. I use it for IPSC and USPSA matches. I use my G29 for CCW.

Where did you get your Barrels I like the one for the 29 but just bought a 20c and like your set up

The G20C is a stock Glock barrel that I polished with a Dremel and some metal polishing compound. The G29 barrel is from Stormlakebarrels.com. I live in Canada and we can't have guns with a barrel shorter than 104mm, so the only way that I can own a G29 is to have an aftermarket barrel that's at least 104mm.

Since you're use to both the size and mass of a 1911, consider this.  My custom 6" slide/barreled G20/21L (avatar) weighs 52.2oz as you see it there, magwell and all.  And that's with 17+1 rounds of 180grn 10mm bullets.  So, for the same size and weight as your 1911, you can get more than double the firepower.  In addition, with the extra 4¾ oz at the muzzle (longer barrel and slide) over a stock G20, even my nuclear loads (see below) are very manageable.  No wrist wrenching, hand torquing, over your head recoils.  The grip backstrap width coupled with the frame flex tames the recoil noticeably.  That's why the G21 is the softest shooting 45cp, period.

Even after 200 rounds of my hot loads, it's still very comfortable to shoot.  In addition, with a 28% longer sight radius over a stock G20, its become a very accurate package.  I have chrono'd 2 different safe heavy custom re-loads for G20L with only slight primer flattening but
no signs of primer leakage, stretched cases, or loose primer pockets:

1st -
180grn Gold Dot @ 1,423fps - 809lb/ft ME!

2nd -
165grn Gold Dot @ 1,503fps - 827lb/ft ME!

(Both were chrono'd using an Ohler 35 chrono, 15ft from muzzle,  10shot average, 6,100ft elevation, 84° day.)

Best of all, if you reload for your 45acp, you'll find that reloading for a 10mm, once you buy the brass, is actually cheaper than reloading for your 45acp because of the cheaper 40/10mm bullets.

Just to brag a bit, my G20/21L (yes, its just a range/hunting toy rather than my HD/SD weapon, however, with over 11,000rds through it, it sees 'duty' every range visit.):
