was talking with a freind ,and he made a statement that his glock will release the slide when inserting a mag.dont remember the model but its one of the long slide 40s.he clams he did resurch on it and clams that all glocks are made to do that.not sure of his round count but would say under 2500. i have 4th gen 22 and have tride this just to see if mine does it ,and have smacked the shit out of the mag without droping the slide once. has anyone ever heard of this being normal? if so why is that mine dont do it?

Yes, its normal for some to do it once they've worn in a bit and some might never do it.  I like the feature so I've tweaked the Slide Stop Lever on all my Glocks so that they release when I insert a new mag with a slap.

I had a Gen 1 that used to do it. The slide would not stay open after the last round either. I replaced the slide stop lever and spring and both problems went away. I have eight other Glocks and none of them have ever done it.

If I give my 3rd gen G17 a good slap, it will do it. Most Glocks I have seen will do it, but I don't like intentionally doing it.

Stop slamming the mag so hard.

My last HK USP did it. Not sure if it was supposed to or not. Never had a Glock do it.
