glock split frame question > Glock

buddy has a 4 number SN glock. first generation grips .40 caliber "long" slide. 35(not 100% sure on that) according to the website

anyways the frame has a small slit going down the middle of the frame. does he buy a new frame, will glock switch this out? what all is he in for?

i know nothing of glocks or how their warranty stands

Send it in,the absolute most it will cost him will be $150 plus tax,they will probably replace the frame for less than that though,since it sounds like a defect!

Send it back to Glock. I replaced a frame on a G34 that I messed up by trying to cut down the grip fame. Glock charged me about $75 for a frame replacement. The serial numbers on the frame and barrel are now different.

Indeed call them, see what they want done. It's very possible they'll have you send it in and replace the frame for free. They have been known to do that when it's not "user caused", but just wear-and-tear type breakage.

In the past, Glock has replaced those for free so I see no reason why they wouldn't now. There were several runs over the years of split frame issues, I've seen quite a few. It is said to be from a bad mold and / or cooling process.

send it back i got mine replace for free. i have 2 serial numbers now . i am in nevada you required to have blue card regestration . the city of henderson pd dont want to isue a card . they said its ilegal to hav to srial number on a firearm.any sugestion cant keep pistol with out a blue card.

Sell it and buy a new one with a long serial # that's consistent on barrel/frame or....get a LWD barrel w/no serial # and dispose of the original.
