Never one failure, shot it for fun on the range and used it to shoot IDPA. Always ran without a hitch.  This question is posted every other day in the forum....

I shot 1500+ rounds (Yea I know, not much but I'm not a baller) without cleaning my XD9 service (only boresnaked the barrel). This was with WWB which we all know is a pretty dirty ammo.

Not a drop of oil was added after the initial cleaning and lubing.

Nothing wiped off during that time.

Not a single failure of any type.

After about 200 rounds

+ a gazillion. I've owned 3 xd40's, 1 xd40sc, and my buddy has one of each including an xd45. They have all been 100% reliable through thousands of rounds. No BS. You can trust your life to them.

Probably moreso than most mid-grade/stock 1911's.  I finally broke down and picked up the Compact .45 with the stainless slide.  I didn't care so much for the 9mm and .40 cal versions (already have both in Glocks and a few Sigs).  I stumbled on a few of those magazine accessory packs, so I figured I might as well get the pistol to go with them

So far, only about 300 rounds of FMC and a couple boxes of Speer Gold Dots and some brand of JHP (not sure Rem or Win).  Not one issue...directly from the box, no lube, and straight onto the range; no FTE or FTF...I'm impressed.  Top tier pistols will fire out of the box with no issues...Glock, Sig, H&K, CZ and it's easy to place the XD series in the same category.  If Glocks don't fit you and you want something lighter than a full sized steel 1911 with high capacity, the XD45 is an excellent option.
