I know this is probably a very newbish question, but eh...Im gonna ask anyways.

I want to buy a pistol online and have it transferred to a store, simple enough.

My question is since i havent had a background check done yet, can i still have it transferred and then have the store hold onto the gun until the background check\waiting period is done, or do I need to have the store do the check first for them to accept the transfer?

Step by step:
1. Order gun, pay for the gun and shipping.
2. The store gets the gun. You show up and do the BG check and pay them for their transfer cost.
3. You take it home.

No one but you is worried about a back ground check, the end customer, as you have paid for the gun.

When your local shop receives the gun from the seller, they log it in their bound book.  They are now legally in possession of the firearm.

When your background check clears, they log it out as sold to you.

Assuming you can pass a background check.  If not then you may be out the money and the gun also. As most sellers don't do returns on firearms.
