My charles daly 1911 has issues. I put a full length 5inch guide rod in it and now after firing I can not remove the slide for cleaning. I remove the slide lock and it moves about 1mm then stops. I dont have a clue how to fix this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Btw the pistol still functions fine slide moves in normal operation. I just cant remove the slide from lower receiver.

I'll start with the "why the full length guide rod?"  Was it working before?  When we fix this I hope you are going to get rid of the full length guide rod and put thing back to the way God told JMB to build the thing...

OK now that that's done.  Could this be a two piece guide rod?

No it is a one piece guide rod. Made by Fusion Fire Arms. And yes once we fix it the original will be going back in it.

Barrel bushing/end plug and spring/slide lock removed.

Muzzle down with the barrel link swung forward.  Slide half back racked, then the slide pulled forward/downward hard.

Best guess is that the barrel link pin walked out of the barrel bottom lug, or the front of the frame lug channel was peen”d, and the bottom lug is having problems clearing it.

It will be tomarrow before I can attempt to fix it because I am at the fire station today and tonight. But keep the advise coming. I did try removing the slide lock, barrel bushing, and spring. It still did not help, I applied as much force as I could w/o prying on it with a screw driver. It would not budge an inch.

Ok I have fixed my 1911, thanks to all of you who gave me good advice. I have returned it to its original configuration. I took it to the range and it performed flawlessly. Thanks again.
