Finally had some time to work on a frame and slide I've been sitting on for a while. Used a foster over run frame and a no name slide I got from an auction site for a song, also some Sarco parts and an Iver barrel, pretty much a drop in fit- barrel gauge is a handy thing! Just a bit of fitting the slide to frame and minor fitting of the trigger- had an unused grip safety that seems to be a nice fit.
Function tests passed, no hammer follow, good sear to trigger fit, about 5# pull, safeties work. Cycles snap caps from magazine. Threw on some sights I had laying around that fit the sight cuts, lined them up with a laser cartridge. http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv46/djdelas/1113102352a.jpghttp://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv46/djdelas/1113102352.jpghttp://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv46/djdelas/1113102350.jpg

Will take for a test fire later this week.

Just need to shape the frame a bit and maybe be adventurous and do some slide shaping. Any suggestions?

Looks good. My eyes must be messing with me, but is that Government size or Commander? For some reason, I can't tell for sure.
It's not mine, but I'm not a fan of Pachmayr grips or that particular trigger  but that's just me. But overall the gun looks good. I'm not brave enough to take the plunge into a build of my own yet.
Are you going to refinish everything? If so, what are you going to use? What color?

I'd like to get it parkerized, trigger isn't my fave either- it fit in the nicest of the ones laying around. Depending on how nice this one ends up, I may use some lasergrips I have for it, the fronstrap is smooth so I am inclined to just use some wraparound grips.

Gonna do a bit more final checking before the test fire- headspace and timing checks. Read up on my KuhnH. books today during some down time, no need to rush something that waited over a year already.

Having some issues with the beavertail and the trigger during the reset- the safety stays engaged until the trigger goes all the way forward but the trigger catches! I have a short trigger I'll try in it and I may end up changing out the beavertail.
Some of my text was cut out of my original post- I'd guess this build has cost me about $225 in parts- frame slide and barrel and majority of parts- alot of internals were just leftovers from multiple parts kits that didn't make it into the previous 2 builds.

Aimforthemedic- I wouldn't want to burden some poor guy with my cheap-o frankengun! ha!

So I took it shooting today, put about 100 rounds of magtech 230 gr ball through it. First 2 mags of 2 rounds went well- feeding, extracting and lock on the empty mag. Put the rest through it with only 2 malfunctions, Fail to extract I guess, the next round would chamber but the fired casing would not eject but instead get caught along the ejection port lengthwise thus keeping the slide open. Only 2 rounds, so I'll try to tune the extractor (I guess- suggestions welcomed!) or change it out.
Everything else worked as it should, slide lock after last round, sights were on at 15 yards, very light trigger- less than 5 pounds I'm guessing- will measure when I put in the short trigger.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with the shaping I had in mind then the finish, which I am still leaning toward parkerizing- probably will send it out to a place to have that done.

Why not park it yourself?  Plenty of info on how to do it and it seems rather simple
