I'm trying to decide between getting an ar10 or a 10mm pistol ...I will get both but what to get first... I shoot pistols a lot more so that's were I'm leaning... push me over the edge..

I'll push you toward the AR by posting one of the ugliest 10mm pistols ever built...

Shoots 10mm and gave me an opportunity to use all the .40S&W brass I've been picking up over the years.

Nothing ugly about that at all IMHO –– and I absolutely love the look of and unfluted cylinder.

Err shots of single 10mm guns. They need more company.

Colt delta elite, glock 20fs, smith and wesson 1006, and smith and wesson 610 6inch. Since that picture the 1006 was bead blasted to clean it up some. Plan on picking up a 20sf and a 29 at some point.

For the ar-10 side.

First setup of my ar-10 build. Going to either sell it or switch the barrel to a noveske down the road as I hate the cut they did on it. Might just sell it and put the money to an obr. Anyway specs have changed a little since the pic. Armalite stripped lower with armalite lpk, lmt ambi safety, magpul trigger guard, hogue grip, timmey trigger(haven't shot it since installing this), armalite buffer and parts, lmt sopmod stock. Upper is a armalite 16 inch upper with fa with a troy rear sight(has a wilson in the pic), mi front sight and a 3-9 accupoint in a larue mount.

A couple of years ago, I took a Colt Delta Elite and did a carry conversion on it, to put the things I considered important for a daily carry piece.  Outside of the refinishing and the sight installation, I did all of the work in my shop in the garage.  Here's what I wound up with.

I have a bunch of .45 ACP 1911s that don't get shot anymore...  This 10mm turned into my "go-to" gun.

When you own 10mm, 45 Colt, 38 Super, 44mag, heck you almost have to reload.  I shoot all of them and it makes it worth it.

As a bonus I have 10mm loads that shoot soft like 40 S&W out of a 1911, and I have some that are nice and hot.

Early-'90's era Colt Delta Elite stainless 10mm.

Yep, think Big, also accurate and attractive.. This rare S/A OMEGA with 6" ported longslide and polygonal barrel is one of the last production units out the door from S/A and Peters Stahl of Germany after they stopped doing business together, (why couldn't they get along buisness wise ) so while very early models had some parts breakage reports (not unlike early Deltas) this baby has all upgrades and is rock solid. The 6" gun is built to match specifications, and bench rested can hold sub 3" groups @ 50 yards in my hands, and sub 2" groups in the hands of a couple of my friends (obviously better shooters). The 10mm factory rounds are very much downloaded from a couple decades ago, so the longevity and anything breaking does not and has not concerned me as it has several others who had some early models.

I have also recently discovered that due to the dual extractors I can shoot .40 S&W (hotter loads to make it cycle) rounds through it wih no ill effects, and for some reason the .40's are a lot more accurate than my 2 other .40 dedicated pistols. That is a nice feature, and less expensive to shoot. Exteremly light felt recoil and the gun feeds them without issue. Only comparison I can think of is going from .357 mag to .38 special. That's what the difference feels like.

I sure wish they still made this beauty.

I get new manufacture HSM 10mm for 28$ a box at the store, and 18-25 bucks a box at the gunshow.   So, it's within a few bucks of .45.

I have bought and shot some HSM 10mm and also 9mm from a local Sportsmans Warehouse before they closed down last fall. While better than nothing, they were both really dirty compared to standard factory ammo, and they were very low powered (I didn't chrony it, but) compared to some standard factory loads you could feel the difference. I know that's subjective, but after 30 plus years, you can just tell sometimes.. I also noticed barely a crimp, so I was a bit concerned with bullet set back. They did function without issue, accuracy was not stellar and they were as mentioned pretty dirty. But you shoot what you can find if you don't reload..

I have about 400 rounds of older federal, corbon, winchester, and blazer that I am just shooting sparingly and replenishing as I find it. I don't need to shoot the 10mm all that much, but it's like a fine cigar, every now and then, you just want to have a fine smoke.. Then I break it out and have a few shots!

Beautiful CDE

But where is the guy with the Dan Wesson Razorback?

I carry my Glock 29 most times, set up my Glock 20 with a 6" hunting barrel for deer and hog out to 60 yards, and my SW610 is likewise setup for shooting both 10mm and 40SW - no conversion needed

BUT this 10mm carbine is the hoot to shoot:

Would love to buy an Olympic Arms 6.5" 10mm AR-15 pistol but know that recoil on your cheek would not be fun.

For 10mm and Hodgdon, Longshot is the most overlooked high velcoity moederate pressure powder.

You're right, I use Power Pistol and Longshot for 10mm.

TiteGroup for 9mm and 45 acp.

Universal for 40SW.

True to that.  The only thing I'd say or add is that when shopping locally, 10mm is more rare and difficult to get than .45 ACP. At least where I live and the sporting/guns stores I have access too.
