Does anyone know who make the lightest 1911? Not necessarily the smallest, but the lightest. also does anyone make a polymer frame single stack 1911?

I think that when it comes to 1911's...the lightest one is going to be the smallest one.  Check out the micro compact 1911's from Springfield...or Rock River.  A compact 1911 is going to be lighter than any full sized 1911.

A Colt alloy XSE Commander weighs 26 ounces empty. A Scandium S&W Commander weighs 28 ounces empty. Just for comparison, a M&P 9 weighs 26 ounces empty.

SV used to make an aluminum slide.  If you could find one and put it on an alloy frame, you'd have the lightest.

ETA: I think they still make a titanium slide.  That would be the lightest currently available.

Do you have a prefer barrel length?  My old Colt Lightweight Officers was around 24 oz.  Don't know of any single stack ploymore 1911, only double stacks (STI/Wilson).

the EMP is 26oz with an empty magazine.

no single stack 1911's, don't see the real advantage of that.

Kimber ultra is 24 oz unloaded.  Anyone elses alloy frame 3" gun will be within an ounce of that.  A poly frame does not really gain you any weight savings over an aluminum one.
