picked this up on friday, put 130 rounds thru it yesterday, and its groups were amongst the best ive ever done.

and funny how i SWORE i didnt need another 1911 that was silver with wood grips.

and best "justification" evar:

"this way, now i wont have to clean my carry weapon every time i go the range and fire .45".

Right on!  You better hope they are the same sex, if not they will breed!

this is my first NIB 1911, so im enduring but enjoying the break in period.  the safety was almost impossible to operate while using a normal firing grip, but now it 80% operable, im sure that will smooth out soon enough.  the hammer is also a little rough too when drawing it back, but hopefully that will smooth out as well.  my S&W pictured above has neither of these issues, but it also has about 2000 rounds thru it.

That is a beautiful Springfield. I bought one 3 weeks ago and understand exactly how you feel.

Nice.  My first SA was a Loaded that I got in either 1997 or 98, can't remember but I know it was the first new handgun I ever bought.  It is also the only gun I still have from the 90's.  There is a reason I kept it

My first SA is the more traditional parkerized Mil-Spec that I got just last month to honor the 100th.  It reminds me of my sidearm back in the Army save for the concession to white dot sights for my aging eyes.  Ran great right out of the box.

my groups with the above pistol got worse and worse, until i end up sending mine back to springfield for some work to be done. i sent along a target with a group literally 18 inches wide at 25y.

they replaced the barrel, bushing, front and rear sights, tweaked the tigger, and sent back a target with a 4 inch group.  ive not taken it to the range yet, but their customer service was outstanding and theyre just good people in general.

Was able to take my Mil-Spec out again last Friday and let my 26 yr old son give it a go.  It worked perfectly again so that's now just under 400rds without a single issue, yep not even one with a brand new 1911 shooter at the trigger to boot.  I fed it a mag full of my old Speer GD 'Flying Ashtrays' again they fed slick as snot, again.  Nothing bothers this Springer which makes me very happy.

I use my G20/21L for longer range shooting so this time I let my Springer have a go at 50+ yds.  Even though it's sights aren't adjustable target models, it proved to be right on at 50 yds.  Overall, I'm tickled to death with it.
