The pistol is the dirtiest pistol I have ever bought (gunbroker) but cleaning it was fun. The slide catch doesn't work well and I was wondering would an ed brown or other brownell's product be a suitable replacement?

The magazines and user error aren't the problem, in case ya'll go there:D...

The slide stop from my Kimber fits fine and is fully functional with all of my magazines so I figured a drop in for a kimber would drop in the SA.

Here's the pictures.

I don't know why gun magazines take pictures of this part of a 1911 with the hammer cocked but here's mine...

Holster wear and scuz from crappy hogue wrap-arounds sealing dirt in for 3 years

Who's logo is this? Old chip mccormick? I got one of these at a gunshow in a box of GI mags for cheap, and the gun came with a stainless one.

I'd go with a Wilson or Ed Brown for the slide stop. They both have solid reputations.

As for the magazine logo, it looks like Metalform.

Ed Brown would be a great replacement slide stop and my 1st choice

the mag is MetalForm, great brand

on a great 1911 (i miss my champ SS sometimes)

My thinking is that the slide stop is the issue. I took the 'lip' of the back side of the "tooth" (?) that catches in the slide and now it will lock back with two USGI mags I've never used and a CMI 10rd and my new CMI shooting star (but it won't feed HPs from it) Fudgecicles.

Very nice. That was my 1911 of choice for sure, but every time I get convinced I find something else I like. I know, I'm sick.
