New to the forum and a recent purchaser of a Glock 26.
I want to practice often find the 10 round magazines to be lacking in capacity for practice shooting. I believe that any Glock 9mm magazine will fit any Glock 9mm weapon. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Is it a common practice to use a larger magazine for practicing so that more frequent reloading isn't as much an issue? Also, are there any quality after market magazines for Glocks? Any suggestions, guidance for this noobie is appreciated [only began shooting this last summer and only have a few firearms at this point]. Thanks in advance for your insights. John |

In my limited experience, KCI is the only glock knockoff magazine worth using for practice. Some have experience feeding issues with them. Some have experienced magazine expansion issues. My 3 each feed flawlessly. With that said, I still wouldn't use one for EDC.
KCI makes a knockoff of pretty much all the glock mags. |

Any 9mm Glock mag should fit your 26.
KCI/Korean knock-off mags are about the only option out there. Consensus seems to be that they are OK for practice, but not for carry. Centerfire Systems has the G19 KCI mags for $6 apiece last time I looked. I doubt you'll find a better price and those would hold 15 rounds. |

I see no reason to use a 'larger' cap mag for practice. One could get in the habit of shooting more rounds during practice, but when the need arises to use your weapon with stock mags you could be expecting more then you have. I have extra mags of my G27 that are the same as I carry. That way I know how to keep track of rounds fired and when I need to reload.
Just my thinking, 'Train as you would fight'! |
| And I go the opposite direction, I will download mags to maybe half capacity just to prompt more reloads. I use my stand mags for whatever pistol I am shooting and only put a few rounds in it, or even better have someone else load a few rounds so I don't know when it will run dry. |
| So far I have only carried my G26 with the 10 round mag with +3 Pearce extension (loaded to 12), for a total of 13 rounds, and I just bought an Xgrip for my Glock19 mag so when I get a mag holster I'll carry it as a second mag for another 15 rounds. It feels great. Total of 28 rounds in 2 mags. |

I've had 6 KCI 15rd. mags with my old Glock collection and 6 more now with my G26 and G19. Never had a single problem with all 12 mags. Best thing is to check inside the mag and around the feed lips to see if any excess plastic needs to be trimmed to match the factory mags. I slightly trimmed some, but most didn't need it. At $6 each you'll have great range mags that can take all factory Glock part replacements. I can't comment on any other capacity KCI mags, but the 15 rounders have been perfect in my experience.
They're $7.99 here now, but they did have them for $5.99 each not to long ago. Sometimes CDNN has them on sale as well. Centerfire Systems: KCI mags CDNN: KCI mags Now you could just buy factory Glock from CDNN for $25 for the dual cut or $24 for the single cut and call it a day. Either way, stock up while you can. |

All 9mm glock mags will work in your 26. 10,15,17,33 rounders all work.
KCI mags are fine for range time. Check the insides for extra plastic. For carry I only use the glock factory magazines. High capacity mags are fine if you are working on general accuracy or just want to put a lot of holes in the paper. You may notice a difference in POA/POI as you are changing the weight of the weapon. By no means do I mean a lot. Honestly I would look to pick up a few more 10 rounders, load them up prior to your range trip, then work on reloads. You can carry your 26 with a 17/15 rounder in it as your carry, I did when my 17 had to be sent back to glock and had no other 9mm glocks at the time. Yes it reduces the concealing factor but you make due. In the summer when I main carry my 26 I have a 10 in it and two 17 rounders on stand by if needed. This is simply for the fact that I have my stand alone mag carrier set up for the 17. I have trained myself to grab for the larger mags and found the 10's to be an issue gripping while under stess. I would encourage you to pick up at least 1 funstick (33rd) as they are a great way to let out flustration.

You may notice a difference in POA/POI as you are changing the weight of the weapon. If something changes, it is because of the way you are gripping it with the longer magazine. Weight has nothing to do with the bullets hitting where they are supposed to. Does your POI change as the magazine empties? That changes the weight, too. As has been said, any 9mm Glock mag will work in the 26. Whenever I carry my 26 it has a flush 10 round mag in it, but regardless of which model I'm carrying (17, 19, 26, 34) I carry a Glock 17 mag with a +2 extension as a spare. The longer spare mag is no harder to conceal, and I figure if I'm having to reload I might as well have 9 more rounds. |
