OK I think its time to start to reload and wanted to see what you guys would recommend as a press for a newbie?

I will be only reloading 10MM and 45 ACP.
I am very new to reloading and have no experience in it but i think its time because I love my 10 mm and think it will be lots cheaper.

thanks
Lone

If you are doing pistol only get a square deal B from Dillon.

Doesn't Dillon have Propriertory reloading components?

+1 I agree on the Square Deal B Especially if you're only doing one or two calibers.

I have both the Square deal B and a Dillon 550.

I like the Square deal as it is auto indexing whereas the 550 requires you to advance the shell plate manually. I mainly use the 550 for rifle calibers and to use other brand dies. I do just 45 acp with the Square Deal.

Only on the Square Deal B.  All the others use standard size and thread dies.

To the OP, Dillon.  Been using my SDB since '95 and loaded countless rounds on it.  Had a chance to chrono them recently and got very nice consistency from it as well.

It depends. In the case of the square Deal you are locked into Dillon dies. The 550 tool plates allow you to use other brand dies.

The good thing about them being their brand dies is that they are also covered by their no bullshit warranty. I had a die crack, they had a new one on the way the day I called them.

You'll be good to go with a Dillon SDB.  I load up 45acp, 40, 38, 357 with mine.  It won't do ANY rifle ammo, but then you said yo only wanted to do pistol.

All I use is a Lee single-stage.  Works great, was cheap.  Takes a little more time to load on than a progressive, but very simple to operate.

Definitely get over to the Reloading Forum, in Armory.  Alot of very usefull information in the tacked threads up top.

I'm very happy with my Hornady LnL.  Costs less than Dillon (no disrespect the the great Dillon products) and superb customer service and warrenty.  When I decided to start reloading, I found I could buy all the requred tools and the LnL for the price of just the Dillon press.  Money was a factor at the time.

Be ready to wait a long time for those bullets if you go Hornady.  They're way behind.  So far I've got 1400 with another 200 enroute.  All in .45ACP!  You should have seen the little UPS lady struggling with a small box containing 80 something pounds of bullets!

I recommend getting on Youtube and checking out a few different presses. Try "Dillon", "Hornady", and "Dillon vs Hornady" You will get an idea of what each has to offer this way.
