Does anyone have any experience with the 96D? Found some for $289 and are listed as having bright Trijicon night sights. Some handling marks and holster wear plus one 11rd mag &  factory box.

I know that the 'D' stands for DAO. I'm OK with that since I'm old enough to have been trained in DA revolver firing with Smith&Wesson N frame revolvers. I can deal with DAO effectively, unlike the Glock/Twitter generation. I also recognize that the 96 means that it is a .40 S&W. Having grown up reading the late great Colonel Jeff Cooper's exploits in the back pages of Guns & Ammo magazine, having a .401" bullet is a good thing to me and already have two Glock 19's plus a G23 with a LWD .40-9mm barrel if I feel compelled to shoot a 9x19mm.

My questions are:

1) is $289 a good price for a 96D in NRA >90% condition?
2) how well supported is the case head if I use reloads in it?
3) will this 96D fit 92 holsters?
4) your overall impression of this pistol, particularly if you have or had this pistol
ETA: especially if you were issued this as a duty pistol

I've scheduled myself some extra shifts during the Christmas/New Years period to have the $$$ to pick this up if it is considered a buy. The other pistol that I otherwise will get if this is a no-go is a police surplus Glock 22.

4) your overall impression of this pistol, particularly if you have or had this pistol nice piece, dao is very smooth.  look for excessive wear...40 can be hard on them

It's kind of a decent price. Wouldn't call it a great price. There is plenty of police trade ins to be had at reasonable to decent prices.  I have both of the 96d and G22 and am happy with both, It's a great caliber. The only down side is the lack of aftermarket parts for the beretta so your looking at paying a more premium part price. The Glock has a aftermarket part on every street corner almost.
