will the mags for the 2340 work in the 2009? if so how many 9mm rounds will the .40 cal. hi-cap mags hold?

Yes, but you can buy the normal capacity magazines now so why not just get them?

Standard capacity mags should start popping up with the ban over and all but all in all I think LE hi caps were only like 12rnds any way so it might not that big of a deal

If you seach around on gunbroker and look for a seller that goes by 'Joespawnshop", you might run into some 2009 15round mags. I got 5 from him for $90. He has had them listed a few other times as well.
