Hey guys.  I just bought this 96G, and the past 2 times I've gone to the range something kinda strange happens.  When I've fired my last shot, the slide returns to the normal "ready to fire" position.  I am a right hand shooter, so I tossed around the idea that maybe I was accidentally pushing on the slide release while firing.  Has anyone ever heard of this being a problem (either the gun or me)?  If it's me, I probably should try a different thumb position.  If it's the gun....what do I do?

Thanks!!

I'm willing to bet you're hitting the slide release.  I had the same problem with my 92FS when I first got it, then I realized what the problem was, changed my thumb position, and it's fine now.  I've also heard of it happening to a couple of other people before too.

Have you had someone watch you from the side while you shoot??????

no not yet.  i'll be going to the range either thursday or friday (or both!), so i'll be sure to ask somebody to watch me.  i think it's happened to me 3 times total...once last week and twice the last time at the range.  Sad thing is, I have been shooting some of my best groups recently....:(

I had this problem when I first shot my M9.  I changed where I put my thumb a bit and it's good to go.

Are you using new magazines? If you added a couple of used mags to your collection, the follower could be worn and not reliable actuating the slide release lever.

Also are you using good ammo as opposed to lightly loaded reloads?
