| Have a freind whose 1911 will not lock to the rear, somebody told him it was the link pin that was bad. I think the slide stop is worn or maybe the slide is worn and wont engage the slide stop. Haven't seen the gun but its supposed to be grandpa's who gave it to my freind so who knows how old and worn it is. Any other ideas? |

That might be the case, but I wouldnt take his word for it until he went down to the gun store and borrowed a Wilson, Springer, and Kimber mag off the display guns (if he doesn't know somebody with a few extras). I had the problem that was not mag related as well. It turned out the slide was made of soft metal and it caused a peening at the slide stop notch. I replaced the SS and the matter was resolved... for a while. I had to send it back for warranty work after that. ETA: brain caught up with my eyes there. If he can't lock it back at all he should try the SS. if that doesn't work (even temporarily) then there might a bigger problem at stake. like the one I experienced above. |
