| well im looking for a new pistol. a Glock . i have a g17 and a g22 im not really fond of the 9mm round and im not fond of the snap on my g22 i also haave a 357 sig drop in barrel for my g22 so thats ruled out... so what caliber should i get my next glock in? |

Depends on what you want the gun for? Honestly I shoot nothing but .40 cal Glocks. I always thought the G22 was great. Now the G27 theres one snappy gun. If you like the .40's then try out the G35. The gun itself is a bit long but man those it shoot good. As far as .40's being snappy I think if you went with a .45 you'd feel the same way. But like always, You should go to the shooting range and rent various guns your interested in to see which one feels better. |
| i wish i could get a g21 sf man. i live in CA and theyre not legal here because they are newly produced pistols that dont have a mag disconnect or whatever it is. if i was able to get one id get it with out hesitating. i mean i REALLY like the 40 cal round but it gets a little snappy ..do you think with practice id be able to maintain the snap better? |
| just new models i believe like if they were to come out with ones that had ambi mag release we would not be able to get them. my friend told me that and his dad owns the local gun shop. lame huh? i mean not to bad but iam a left handed shooter so it would be nice although i have learned to do just as well with a regular glock. |

How much more effective to you believe .40 is than 9mm? If you're thinking anymore than 5-10% more "stopping" power, you're buying into too much rhetoric. If you don't believe 9mm is an effective defensive round than you should probably do some more research on the matter and look up ballistic gel testing for various calibers. I'm not trying to be a dick...seriously. I'm just under the impression that you don't like 9mm because you don't think it is a stopping round. If you think .40 is too snappy, you'll probably feel about the same with every other caliber. .45 is a slower round but you'll have more recoil, 10mm is simply right out as it is much snappier than .40 with more recoil. I suggest if you don't like the .40 or can't get used to its recoil, you use the gun that fits you best (including recoil) which would put you at the 9mm. Some Speer Golddots +p would be perfect. I've known a lot of people that tried to force themselves to shoot a caliber that they weren't comfortable with just because it was bigger. They struggle getting used to it or getting good at it and never really do. Then I've seen them shoot a 9mm flawlessly. They bought into a stigma and fought shooting a caliber that was better for them. I have seen the opposite of this scenario as well. My brother started out with 9mm and .40 and wasn't that comfortable with how they shot and moved up to the .45 and shot it great. I just think you should really think about how much you care about the stigma of a larger caliber. There isn't that big of a difference between .40 and 9mm and to handicap yourself just to shoot a bigger round is a poor decision IMO. If you shoot the G17 better than your G22, this simply reinforces this as far as I'm concerned. |
| well i can shoot it accuratley but not as fast as i would like to. but in CA having a 9mm is not that great since we are limited to 10 rounds so i figured getting abetter grip or somthing would make it much more suitable. i thought it had better penetration and energy than 9mm? anyone have balistic data? |

In your situation I'd look hard at a G-30. It's designed as a 10 shot anyway and what better round to have only 10 of. I've always did much better work with a .45 acp than the .40 and find the recoil more pleasant, It just gently rolls up instead of "snapping" without that annoying tendancy to string groups vertically like the .40. |
